Seven Pages Your Website Should Have Submitted By Woody Longacre Many times we have all come across business websites that lack fundamental information which is critical to the success of the site. If your intentions are to be successful, and I think they are, make sure your site has these 7 vital pages. Testimonials: There is nothing more powerful then the comments of your satisfied customers. You should solicit feedback from your customers and include the positive comments on a testimonial page. FAQs : A list of commonly or routinely asked questions with the answer is a convenience to the user and a time saver for both you and the user. Customers like the idea of being able to get answers to simple or common questions without the burden of having to send an email or make a time consuming phone call. Sign up: This one should be a priority for all business oriented websites. Have a section on a page or a separate page where users can provide their name and email address. Normally users won't give this information for free so offer something of value in exchange. A product, a prize, free download of relevant information, or anything that you are willing to give. Just make it a useful item. The email addresses you obtain become potential future customers, don't overlook this opportunity to build a list . Contact Us: All business websites should have a Contact Us page that provides a complete set of contact information. This should include local, long distance, and toll free phone numbers - complete business name and mailing address and email addresses of service, sales, support, and management personal as appropriate. Customers want to know that they can contact someone with questions, concerns or problems. About Us: Customers want to know that there are real people at the XYZ products company. As a business owner it is not practical for you to get to know all your customers but it is normal for customers get to know you. Keep your About Us page simple and informative, provide basic company history and background. A picture of the owner or owner and staff has a huge appeal and really makes a statement of trust and openness to the customer. Acknowledgement: This is a Thank you or Confirmation page that a customer is returned to after placing an order, leaving a comment, or signing up for your newsletter. Often websites will just take the customers information and be done with it. An acknowledgement is a common courtesy that adds professionalism to your website. Privacy: With the fear of identity theft so prevalent in our society people want to know that their information is secure and safe. Provide a privacy statement that defines your policies with regard to personal information gathered at your site. This of course must include credit information. Oh and make sure you adhere to your own privacy policy. |
